Miranda, who wrote and performed the Broadway musical Hamilton, said the new musical features a cast of new characters, including a black woman, who sings about her life with a white man.
But while Miranda spoke on stage, he also said he was thinking about the legacy of the musical.
“I think we’re really going to look at what it is about the character of Hamilton and the character that is so inspiring, that we really want to make the world better,” Miranda said in an interview.
In a 2015 interview with The New York Times, Miranda said Hamilton is “the most consequential musical of all time,” and added, “The thing I’m most excited about is that the show has been renewed.”

Broadway veteran George Clooney is a cast member and executive producer of the new show, along with the film’s creators Lin-Cheryl Lee and Jonathan Groff.
The show’s creators said they were thrilled to have Clooney in the cast.
“We’re delighted to have George Clooneys voice on Hamilton.
We’re thrilled to welcome him back as a performer, director, and writer.
He brings an incredible level of insight and passion for the show,” the creators said in a statement.

“It’s a lot more emotional,” Miranda told the newspaper.
“And it’s a really different cast.”
Miranda added that he is excited about the musical’s “bigger, bolder vision,” including the return of a cast that includes the cast of Broadway’s original musical.
The new season is the second time that Miranda has been cast as a castmember of the show.
He had been cast in 2013’s The Tempest.
The last time Miranda was cast as an actor in a Broadway musical was in 2004’s Hamilton.
The Broadway production, which opened on Sept. 10, 2017, featured a cast made up of actors from Broadway’s previous musicals, including Michael J. Fox, Lena Dunham and Jennifer Garner.
Miranda said the show was the first of a planned revival that would include several new cast members.
“In terms of the story, the story we’re telling is going to be bigger, boldier and better than any of the ones that we’ve done,” Miranda, whose stage name is Lin-David, said in the interview.
“It will be a new generation of characters, new characters who are just as complex, and new characters that are just so different.
And they are all going to have their own stories.
It will be very different, but it’s going to feel the same.”
