A year after he began acting at an early age, Conor McPauls first steps in front of a screen were to perform at the Coaches Theatre in Dublin’s south-west.
The play is about a group of Irish actors who were inspired by a film made by the late Irish film-maker John Sturges about the life of actor-director John Sturge, which he had produced with the help of Irish producer Ian Cooney.
The film was a big hit and, when the Coach Theatre was looking for a new home, it found it on the website of Inspire performing Arts, a group run by Irish-Canadian actor John Murphy.
“We were in the middle of the process and I was looking at a screen, so I asked him if he would like to play a scene from the film.
I had never seen the film and I thought he was hilarious,” Mr Murphy told The Irish Sun.
The actor says he remembers the moment with a mix of pride and relief.
“It was a great experience for me, it was an opportunity to be part of something that I loved,” he said.
I wanted a little bit of a break from it and I decided I wanted more time to do something I really enjoyed. “
When I started I didn’t know if I wanted to do it or not, but I had a few ideas.
It was good. “
So, I went into the theatre and I did a couple of plays and it was great.
It was good.
I had been working in a theatre for six years and I had done a couple more plays. “
A couple of months later I was doing a bit on the phone and somebody said: ‘You must be Conor McMichael.'”

It just went to show, it’s always a good feeling when you have an opportunity like that, to perform.
“McMichael was part of Insource’s first production at the Theatre Royal in March last year.
He also played a role in a production of The Last Day of the Year at the National Theatre in March this year.
His role was featured in a feature film in November by director John Sturgies Sons of a Gun, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.
McMichael’s acting career began with roles in movies like The Lost Boys, The Last Boy Scout, and, most recently, in The Perfect Storm.
He was recently seen in The Last Song by John Sturgys Sons of A Gun and The Last of the Young Horses by Martin Scorsese.
The Irish Independent recently reported that the actor is looking to take a break after filming his film, which is due to start filming next year.
McPhers role is a big one for Insource.
He said the Coasts Theatre had always been a big part of the theatre. “
The Theatre Royal has been a huge part of Irish theatre for a number of years,” said Mr Murphy.

“This has given the Theatre a huge role and it’s the one I want to be involved in, to be seen on stage.” “
McPhelson’s family have been in Ireland for many years and he has played in the Coasters, the Southport and Cork Coasters. “

“There’s a very close connection with the Theatre in Cork.
The theatre is my favourite venue, so that was always part of my family,” he told The Independent.
“To be seen performing on stage at the Southgate is really special, especially when it’s my dad, who was in the Army, and my brother, who is a policeman, and they are the only two Irish-Canadians I’ve ever known.”
The Theatre has always had a great support network, and McMichael said it’s great to have Insource supporting the company.
“That’s something I’ve always wanted to have,” he added.
“With Insource we have a really good team of actors who have come through the company, they have a great understanding of how the business works, so it’s a great thing to have.”
McPaul says he feels very lucky to be in Ireland.
“Being an Irish-American, you feel very Irish, and it really does help you out a lot,” he explained.
“But I have always been really lucky to have been here, to work in this beautiful country.”
I feel very lucky that I’ve had the chance to be here, and I love it.
I love Ireland.
It’s a beautiful country.
